Cultural Enrichment

As a way of exposing our kids to cultures outside of their own, we bring cultural enrichment experiences to our campus. 

Visiting Author

Maine author and illustrator, Matt Tavares, spent a day with us in December 2019.  Read a Brunswick Times Record article about his visit.

Artist in Residence

In 2018 musician and educator, Michael Wingfield, returned to the Bowdoinham Community School to share the rhythms and songs of the African New World with our students.  Mr. Wingfield’s mission matches our school’s values:  to move our communities “from cultural appreciation to cultural engagement.”

Naturalization Ceremony

In June, 2018 our 4th and 5th grade students were witnesses at the Naturalization Ceremony of 60 individuals earning the right of citizenship in the United States at Mt. Ararat Middle School.

Visiting Author

Maine author and illustrator, Anne Sibley O’Brien, spent two days at our school in November 2017.  She shared her craft as an author and illustrator, and how books can be a bridge to bigger ideas around race and culture.  Read a Brunswick Times Record article about Ms. Sibley O’Brien’s visit.
