Cultural Enrichment

As a way of exposing our kids to cultures outside of their own, we bring cultural enrichment experiences to our campus. We're exceedingly proud of our most recent programs and have exciting plans in the works for the 2018-2019 school year. Check out some of our recent events:

Naturalization Ceremony

This past June, our 4th and 5th grade students were witnesses at the Naturalization Ceremony of 60 individuals earning the right of citizenship in the United States at Mt. Ararat Middle School.

Visiting Author

Maine author and illustrator, Anne Sibley O’Brien, spent two days at our school in November 2017.  She shared her craft as an author and illustrator, and how books can be a bridge to bigger ideas around race and culture.  Read a Brunswick Times Record article about Ms. Sibley O’Brien’s visit.

Artist in Residence

Musician and educator, Michael Wingfield, shared the rhythms and songs of the African New World with our students in Spring 2017.  Mr. Wingfield’s mission matches our school’s values:  to move our communities “from cultural appreciation to cultural engagement.”
